Terms of Use

Last updated: October 21, 2026

In short: the extension is free, comes as is, and translations are produced by third-party services that can make mistakes. Please check important translations before you rely on them.

Agreement

These terms apply to Google Translate Extension for Chrome (the extension) and the website translate-extension.online, provided by Captain Software Limited, Unit B, 11/F, 23 Thomson Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. By installing or using the extension you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

The service

The extension translates selected text, single words, text you type and whole web pages in your browser. It is free. There are no paid plans, subscriptions or usage limits set by us.

License

We grant you a personal, free, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use the extension. You may not sell, resell or redistribute it, or use it to build a competing product.

Third-party translation services

Translations are provided by third-party services such as Google Translate and Yandex Translate, or by the model built into Google Chrome. Their availability and quality are outside our control, and their own terms apply to the text they process. Machine translation can be inaccurate. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions without checking the original.

Acceptable use

Do not use the extension to break the law, to violate the rights of others, or to overload or abuse the translation services.

Trademarks

The extension is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Google LLC. Google, Google Translate and Chrome are trademarks of Google LLC. Other names belong to their owners.

No warranty

The extension and the website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of translations and uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Captain Software Limited is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from the use of the extension or of translations made with it.

Changes and termination

We may update the extension, these terms or discontinue the service. Changes to these terms are posted on this page with a new date. You can stop using the extension at any time by removing it from your browser.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
